Morandi is a solid Italian option in the West Village for pretty much any occasion. I’ve been for brunch and it’s great, and I’ve also been for dinner (spoiler: it’s also great).
Salmon is one of those dishes that can turn out to be so dreadfully dull and too fishy, simultaneously. I mostly order it to get my Omega-3’s in. Not cuz I find it super yummy.
But I did love tonight’s salmon. I loved the presence of vinegar, which cut the fatty richness of the fish nicely. I ate every bite, Omega’s be damned!
The fried artichokes were nice but a bit on the greasy side, like the little suckers took a leisurely swim in some lukewarm oil and got drenched in the stuff. I still recommend ordering, however.
The interior is spacious but cozy, warm with brick walls, antique tile floors and simple wooden tables and chairs. Definitely suited for date night or anyone who you wish to believe you are spending a FORTUNE on their meal.
Prices are average for the area, don’t bring a $20 and expect that will cover your meal, unless you’re not drinking and having one pasta dish and are a really bad tipper. Only in that case would a $20 cover you.
This ain’t the olive garden. When you’re here, you pay up. You’re not family, no free rides, moochers.
