Just like with every good brunch spot in Brooklyn, get there when Mile End opens or be prepared to wait.
Luckily, I know better so got there on the early side, around 11 am on a Saturday and was seated instantly. Everyone behind me had to wait until after we had finished eating!
You come to Mile End (either the Brooklyn or Noho location) for smoked meats. Particularly, the Smoked Meat Sandwich ($15) or the Smoked Meat Poutine ($16).
Both were really good. Not fantastic, just really good. Meaning, would I wait in a line for either dish? No. But I would definitely come back if a table was ready and waiting for me like a regular at Rao’s.
The poutine was actually tastier the next day, when I put some Sriracha on top! I think it needed a little spice, like a few pickled jalapenos or something.
The place is small. Like, tiny. Another reason to come early or not at all.
Oh, I forgot about the hot dog! It was also really good. That’s my review in a nutshell. Really good. Just a notch below great.
